Happy New Year ~

wow, it's 2010 -
an entire decade into the 21st century!!

Have so much I'd like to do this year, learn some new knitting techniques (like socks!) and get all my accumulated photographs into scrapbooks/albums and sort through all my collections of *stuff* - it feels too overwhelming to think about! I should just choose a project and get started......

For this dishcloth I chose a deep purple, in Cottonease yarn, which I love the feel of and is sooo easy to work with - tho it is a mix of cotton and acrylic, I'm keeping it for myself (a real first! I hardly ever knit a cloth just for me!) - so I won't be using it for a potholder - it will just be a pretty cloth, sitting in my kitchen to remind me how much I love to knit ~

This was the January KAL from the Monthly Knitting group ~
~ and designed by Alli Barrett -visit her site for some of the most beautiful knitting you've ever seen!

Glad you visited today ~
while you are here, please stop by my other pages here - listed at the right side ~

please come again soon!

Lassie - Jeff's Collie

My hero ! Jeff Miller was my childhood hero - he was Lassie's owner before Timmy came to the show.
I adored Jeff! He was a big-brother type to me ~ and I envied him the dog that I always had wanted!
I even entered contests to win one of Lassie's puppies! - my parents wouldn't sign for me to get one tho..............so instead I won a small stuffed animal, Lassie dog.
I still enjoy Lassie reruns on tv ~ and have my own "Lassie" - her photo is at the top of the page ~ isn't she lovely? Her name is Lass and I'll be posting more pics of her soon!

Baby Bonnets!

And while they may look complicated, they really are the easiest pattern ever!
StitchesFromTheHeart is a charity I knit for and you can go their webpage and get their free pattern!
Then you can make one for your baby - and make one to donate to a charitable cause!

Antiques and Memorabilia

My grandmother gave me these figurines - I remember her always having them in her house and they intrigued me -
they are very light-weight, look like wooden, but have lightness like papier-mache.
Would love to be able to find out where they were made, when, what they are, etc.

Collecting Old Photographs

Who hasn't enjoyed browsing thru the boxes of old photos at the antique store?! I am posting some to a new page, perhaps someone will identify them one day! Meanwhile - enjoy the look back at a lifestyle much simpler in living, but more difficult to manage!

Books on Local History

Because of my love for history and the area that I live in, I have written several books about the town and people of Bethany 's past (Genesee Co. NY) -

  • The Town and the People
  • The Poor House, 1825-1900
  • The Poor House Revisited
  • Mary Erwin, Poetess of Bethany
My dearest friend has also published two books, novels with the setting in early Bethany and western NY state ~ UpSouth: Spring and UpSouth: Summer.

You can find all these books for sale at the Gift Shoppe in Batavia by clicking the link below:
